The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate Armah Zolu Jallah says Liberia needs to identify its priorities in terms of adopting policies that will benefit its citizens. The Pro-Tempore made specific reference to the indefinite cessation on logging activities by the government of Liberia saying, it is grossly undermining the economy of the country.

Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry, Julia Duncan Cassel has called on women organizations in and around the country to continue their efforts in ensuring that their issues reach referendum.

The House of Representative has forwarded a communication from President Ellen Johnson seeking to repeal the Liberia Produce Market for the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority.

President Sirleaf wrote that body last session seeking for an enactment into law a bill to repeal chapter 57, title 12 of the executive law of the Liberia Code of Law revised 1973 and to establish in its stead a new chapter 57  that would carry new title.

Liberia poised to benefit from 279 million Euros from the European Development Fund, (EDF) from 2015 to 2020, Liberia’s delegation to the African, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU-JPA) has revealed.

Liberia was represented at the ACP-EU-JPA by three lawmakers—Representatives Worlea-Saywah Dunah, Corpu Barclay and William Dakel.

The delegation in its report informed the House’s Plenary that the 10th EDF had faced out, and that the incoming 11th EDF had allotted the amount to Liberia.

The delegation disclosed that the fund targeted education, health, roads constriction and maintenance, good governance, the justice system and youth programs.

The delegation indicated that the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has already presented projection for expenditure under the Fund for the period of 2015-2010 in the National Indicative program.

The Worlea-Saywah Dunah-led delegation also told the plenary of the House of Representatives that Ministry of Finance and Development Planning had allocated 107 million Euros, 38% of the total money to good governance, 100 Euros for the energy sector, 32 million Euros Education and 30 million to the Agriculture.

It added that 4 million Euros had been allocated to measures in favor of the civil society; while 6 million Euros for support measures.

Meanwhile, the delegation recommends to the plenary of the House that the committee on Ways, Means and Finance engages the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning on the setting of goals and plans for the European Aid and report same to plenary.

They also recommended that the budget of the support Liberian Embassy in the Caribbean and Pacific-European Union be increased to enable it properly function like other embassies to provide transport means to the delegation when on duty.
