He made the comments in the plenary of the Liberian Senate recently when a letter from the family of Cllr. J. D. Baryogar Junius informing the body of the death of one of its former members was read and subsequently opened for discussion.

Senator Wotorson noted that on many occasions, funerals of former functionaries of Government are left solely with the family and friends and ignored by the State whose agencies or branches the departed served.

He added that on those occasions the Government is usually represented by a person whose rank is far inferior in comparison to the deceased.

It can be recalled that the late Cllr. Junius served in many positions, including
Senator of Grand Bassa County, Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia and head of the Office of Public Defense, Executive of the Liberia National Bar Association and a private legal practitioner.

He was also a member of the ruling Unity Party even when it was still
in the opposition.

Cllr. Baryogar died on June 3 while at the Civil Law Court awaiting proceedings of a case.
