Gbarpolu County Senator Armah Zulu Jallah has been sworn in in Monrovia as the President Pro Tempro of the Liberian Senate.
Mr. Jallah who took the oath of office about 3;50 local time defeated his rivals Senators Joseph Ngabe of Sinoe County and Oscar Cooper of Margibi County to assume the top post.
Senator Jallah is a member of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) of former Liberian President Charles Taylor now serving a jail sentence in The Hague.
The position was made vacant with the defeat of former Senate Pro Tempro Gbezohngar Findley and Grand Bassa Senator.
The longed awaited election of the President Pro Tempro of the Liberian Senate has finally taken place at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
According media reports, vote counting is currently taking place.
