Six Armed Robbers Convicted

The penal jury at Criminal Court 'D' today came down with a unanimous guilty verdict against six notorious armed robbers after they denied committing the crime.

The convicted men were indicted in 2014 of armed robbing several residents in various communities, which include 72nd, Soul Clinic and Cow Field communities in Paynesville outside Monrovia.


The jurors, through their foreman, presented the verdict to clerk of Court "D', saying "We are convinced by the evidence educed in court by state lawyers to convict the men of the crime armed robbery."

Meanwhile, defense lawyers have taken exception to the jurors' unanimous verdict ahead of the final verdict to be handed down by presiding Judge Nelson Togba and are expected to file in an appeal for a retrial at the Supreme Court.

According to court document, the six men put the residents of the communities nder gun point and took always several valuable items including laptops, phones, money and wearing valued at US$12, 342 and L$80,000.00.
