My Fellow Liberians: Last week, the President directed that Counselor Christiana Tah resumes the important duties of Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia. The President’s directive followed the lifting by the Supreme Court of the suspension of Counselor Tah’s license to practice law.
I referred the audience to a story on the World News page of our newspaper, the Daily Observer, which reported that same week in December, 1989, that the Berlin Wall, built by East Germany’s communist dictator, Walter Ulbricht, was being torn down in a spontaneous revolt by his own people. The day of reckoning had come for Ulbricht, the East German Communist regime and for the entire Communist empire, described by Sir Winston Churchill as “the Iron Curtain.”
Montserrado County Senator Geraldine Doe-Sheriff has stressed the need for the Legislative and Executive branches to meet and discuss “pressing national issues” to avoid danger in the country. The Senator said her call comes in the wake of many violent actions taking place in the country, which send dangerous signals to all officials of government.
