MONROVIA, September 1 (LINA) – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated assorted Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).
The equipment which is valued over US$133,027.36 include 27 Lenovo computers, 15 Dell computers, one HP Network scanner, 8 DDG printers, 4 Cisco access switches, 15 pieces of Surge Protector and one Information Technology (IT) tool kit amongst others.
The items were presented under the USAID/Liberia Governance and Economic Management Support Project (USAID-GEMS) at the offices of LIIPA in Monrovia on Monday by the Project Coordinator, Ara Voker Chea.
Chea said the donation is USAID-GEMS’ way of buttressing the enormous capacity building contribution of LIPA and pledged her institution’s support to LIPA to make it effective and efficient in the discharge of its duties to the Liberian people.
Receiving the items, LIPA Director General, Oblayon Blayon Nyemah, Sr. said the donation of human capacity building equipment in the face of this national calamity speaks to the fact that such a virus can only be dealt with if we have minds that are informed.
According to Nyemah, Liberians can only withstand the challenges our society faces today in terms of health, social, economic and political existence if our minds are prepared, focused, refreshed and well capacitated.
Nyemah further noted that the donation also speaks volume to the trust and confidence that USAID-GEMS has in the leadership of LIPA amidst the minimum skills at which the institution is operating, noting, “At this time, anyone would think donors should be donating medical supplies and medications and not capacity building equipment.”
He thanked the USAID-GEMS for the donation and promised that the items will be used for the purpose intended and that they will be seriously maintained.
