GANTA, September 10 (LINA) – An official of the Ganta United Methodist Hospital (GUMH) has said the institution is contemplating constructing a modern medical facility valued at US$10 million.
GUMH Chief Administrator of GUMH, Victor Taryor, said the management’s decision is due to the poor state the current medical facility and the lack of basic medical equipment.
Taryor said the structure does not guarantee privacy control, not handicap-friendly and contains limited units for treating patients who flock the hospital on a daily basis.
“These are some of the reasons we want to construct a well-equipped medical facility that will meet global medical standards, the GUMH official said.
He disclosed that the new hospital will contain an advanced operation theater, isolation units and an advanced physically challenged unit to accommodate people with disabilities as well as an entertainment lounge for visitors.
According to Taryor, the new facility will also contain emergency and intensive care units and will be fenced to ensure that equipment and health workers at the hospital are protected.
He pointed out that when completed, the hospital will admit more than 200 patients daily, noting, “The project is expected to be launched in November at the United Methodist Global Annual conference in the United States.”
The United Methodist Hospital located in District #1 in Nimba County offers healthcare delivery to over 100,000 persons annually, including patients from neighboring Guinea and Ivory Coast.
