VOINJAMA, December 24 (LINA)-An independent candidate in the Lofa County special senatorial race, Professor Alhaji G. V. Kromah, has requested the National Elections Commission to investigate the result coming out of Foya district in Lofa County.

In a protest letter submitted to the NEC office in Voinjama on Monday, December 22, Professor Kromah also alleged that his votes in Voinjama district are being undercounted at the local election commission.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Professor Kromah indicated in his letter of protest that circumstances surrounding the announcement of the preliminary result from Foya are conflicting and raise suspicions that there was fraud in the process.

The protest letter according to LINA, further said that a radio station, “Voice of Lofa” belonging to candidate Stephen Zargo, announced on the night of Election Day that Stephen Zargo has won 26,000 votes from Foya district, quoting the election commission in Lofa County.

He wondered how this was possible when the election has been generally described as having an extremely low turnout, adding, "how can 26,000 voters representing almost the total registered voters in Foya, could have voted for Mr. Zargo, when subsequent figures announced for Mr. Zargo by various sources, including NEC, continue to contradict the 26,000 figure.

Professor Kromah has therefore demanded a complete revisit of the entire electoral process in Foya district.

At the same time, the Kromah protest letter has said his votes for Voinjama district are being undercounted by the NEC office in Voinjama.

He said his poll watchers and supervisors have observed the discrepancies and want an immediate adjustment.
