MONROVIA, August 14 (LINA) -The Supreme Court of Liberia Thursday ruled that George Tehquah of Sanniquellie City, Nimba County be imprisoned for life for the crime of armed robbery and gang rape.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Tehquah’s sentence was part of the Supreme Court’s ongoing final ruling in cases on its docket for the May Term of Court.

The Court said having carefully examined the case, the defendant’s constitutional rights were accorded him by a Trial Jury which unanimously brought down a guilty verdict against the Appellee and was therefore sentenced for life imprisonment for the commission of the crime of armed robbery and gang rape.

The High Court said the Appellee committed the crime on September 8, 2008 in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County and was tried and sentenced for life by the 8th Judicial Circuit Court in Nimba County but filed an appeal to the Supreme Court for retrial.

The court in its ruling denied defendant Tehquah’s request for retrial and confirmed and affirmed the lower court’s decision to sentence Tehquah to life in prison.
