MONROVIA, Jan 6 (LINA) -The Criminal Court ‘D’ in Monrovia Monday suspended the trial of the 18 persons accused of mercenary activities for security reasons.

Criminal Court ‘D’ Judge Yusuf Kaba said he was suspending the trial until security measures are instituted to ensure the safety of court officials and materials.

Giving the ruling at the court Monday, the presiding Judge said the case could not proceed on grounds that imminent danger hangs over court officials.

It can be recalled on the December 31, 2013, the suspected mercenaries went on a rampage when they were taken to the court.

They destroyed the bus that transported them from the Monrovia Central Prison and refused to go back to jail.

No date has been set for the trial to continue.
