MONROVIA, August 27 (LINA) - The Criminal Court “C” at the Temple of Justice has sentenced Pewee Flomo to two years in prison for "theft of property, forgery, criminal solicitation and criminal facilitation."

The Grand Jury of Montserrado County sitting in its February Term gave a unanimous guilty verdict against Flomo for the commission of the crimes.
Flomo, an employee of National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), was responsible to prepare daily disbursement of bank payment vouchers, check preparation and bank reconciliation.

He used check leaves from a stolen checkbook to steal the amount of US$18,351from the NOCAL Hydrocarbon account at the EcoBank.

Flomo was arrested on August 17, 2012 by the Liberia National Police based upon a complaint filed by the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

In the complaint, NOCAL said Flomo single-handedly and jointly forged check leaves from the NOCAL checkbook drawn on Ecobank and withdrew from the said bank on several occasions by forging the signatures of NOCAL Officials.

Criminal Court “C” Judge Yusuf Kaba said the evidence tends to support the contention of the prosecution.

Judge Kaba said defendant Flomo will serve a two-year imprisonment and also ordered him to restitute to EcoBank the full amount representing the value of the fraudulent checks, which the Ecobank has refunded to NOCAL.
