BUCHANAN, August 31 (LINA) - Steel giant ArcelorMittal has sponsored a two-day training for 30 nursing students of the Nursing Department at the Grand Bassa Community College (GBCC) in Buchanan, the provincial capital.

This was disclosed by Dr. Ben Kahnwhea, Head Doctor at ArcelorMittal Hospital and member of the Bassa Ebola Task Force during one of its regular meetings held in the conference room of the County Administration Building recently.

Dr. Kahnwhea said the 30 nursing students were trained in the use of the Thermo Flash at various posts in the facilities of the company, replacing security guards of the Liberia Professional Guard Service (LPGS), a security firm that was previously trained to handle the state-of-the-art instrument.

He disclosed that the nursing students will take up assignments on September 1, 2014.

The Thermo Flash is an instrument used to determine an individual’s temperature when shown at the head above the ear, and if the temperature exceeds 38%, the individual is taken to a medical center for thorough check-up as high temperature is one of the symptoms of the Ebola disease.
