VOINJAMA, September 1(LINA) -Voinjama City Mayor Yongour Sherman has urged the Lofa County Health Team (CHT) to stop abandoning corpses in the county, especially bodies of non-Ebola victims.
Speaking recently during an Ebola Coordination Meeting in Voinjama, Madam Sherman clarified that the City Corporation is only responsible to bury corpses of people who do not have relatives to identify with them.
The Mayor wants the Lofa CHT to always report to the Voinjama City Corporation the bodies of people who do not have relatives and are not Ebola-related cases for interment.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Madam Sherman’s call comes as a result of the abandoning of a dead body recently for three days at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital due to the lack of relatives to take responsibility forthe burial.
