ROBERTSPORT, Sept 2 (LINA) -Porkpa District in Grand Cape Mount County has been disconnected from the rest of the county due to the damage of a bridge connecting the district to Gola Konneh District.

Porkpa District commissioner Lawrence Brown told the Liberia News Agency at the weekend that the damaged bridge connects Bombor Old Town and Kelia village in the district.

Commissioner Brown said due to the destruction of the bridge, the citizens have introduced a ferry system to transport people as well as goods and services to nearby markets to earn their living.

He expressed fear that unless the bridge is reconstructed before the resumption of schools, many students residing beyond the Kelia Village creek may not enroll in school.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Brown is appealing to the Ministry of Public Works and the international community as well as companies operating in the county to help reconstruct the bridge in the interest of the people.
