MONROVIA, September 2 (LINA) -The Magisterial Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has charged a 36-year-old man, Darlington Geesay, with burglary and theft of property.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the court charge sheet said that the defendant on August 24, 2014 was arrested by police and charged with burglary and theft of property at the shop of complaint, Kouakou Louis.

Louis had told police that on that fateful Sunday morning he discovered that his shop had been broken into by an unknown person and that the same day community members said they had seen defendant Darlington Geesay with some of his missing items.

During police preliminary investigation, defendant Geesay gave conflicting statements, but later told the police that a passer-by sold the items to him.

The stolen items, according to the charge sheet, include one big fan valued at US$300, 37 pieces of ceiling costing US$222, two bags of cement US$20 and four rolls of electric wire costing US$600.

Other items stolen include one digital printer valued at US$400, one set of hangers valued at US$300 and two cartoons of nails costing US$40.

The accused Geesay has been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial.
