MONROVIA, September 2 (LINA) - Culture Ambassador Judi Endee has decried the marginalization of local Liberian musical artists by politicians in the country.

She noted that politicians use local musicians during political events or election campaigns to produce songs or jingles for their political institutions, but turn their backs on them at the end the political season.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Ambassador Endee made the statement on Tuesday when she appeared on the Truth FM morning magazine program, “Truth Breakfast Show ‘

Ambassador Endee called on politicians to desist from such practice and support local musical artists both morally and financially so as to improve their artistic work.

The musical artist, who is also a member of the social mobilization committee of the Ministry of Health, warned against politicians producing songs on Ebola, saying they should rather leave it to local musical artists.

Commenting on the Ebola jingles highlighting Ebola preventive measures, Endee appreciated the intent of the jingles, but underscored the need for proper research before production.

“You know communication is a planned process and research based. If you produce the message without researching, you might just miss the boat because every communication must have its objective, target, message, purpose and timing, among others,” she stressed.
