MONROVIA, September 2 (LINA) - The Criminal Court “D” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia Tuesday sentenced Fonatee Chea Dixon to five years in prison for armed robbery.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Dixon, along with three others still at large, was arrested on February 22, 2014 for attacking Margaret Tellowoyan of the Stephen Tolbert Estate in Gardnersville and her sister while on their way home from a wake and robbed them at knife point.

They stole her jewelries and handbag containing US$1,500 along with other personal effects.

Dixon, who admitted during trial to committing the act, was unanimously found guilty last Thursday by a six-man jury, comprising four women and two men.

Handing down the final ruling Tuesday, Presiding Judge Nelson Togba said the convict, on February 22, 2014, intentionally robbed Tellowoyan of her valuables.

Judge Togba sentenced Dixon to five years in jail and ordered him to restitute the amount by making a monthly payment of US$50 until the entire amount is paid.

The judge said failure to make full restitution of the amount will mean an additional five years in prison, bringing his jail term to 10 years.
