MONROVIA, September 6 (LINA) – Thirty-one-year-old Archibald Browne has been charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit murder.
Defendant Browne was arrested on September 4 for allegedly sexually harassing one Madam Tenneh Wreh in Brewerville Township outside Monrovia.
According to the police charge sheet, complainant Wreh testified that she was on her way home at about 6:00 pm on that day when the defendant grabbed her and took her to an unfinished building demanding her to provide the money she had.
She testified that Browne tied her neck with a wire threatening to kill her, assaulted her and tried to sexually abuse her.
“He did not succeed because I held his penis and exerted force on it thereby making him to release me after which I fled the scene,” Madam Wreh said.
The police charge sheet also indicated that based upon the complaint filed, officers from the Zone 6 visited the crime scene during the night and found and collected two identification cards, a social security ID card, and an insurance id card from the Insurance Company of Africa and a passport size photo belonging to the defendant.
Defendant Browne has admitted being the owner of the item, but denied the allegations levied against him, saying at no time did he interact with the victim.
He claimed that his on the night of the incident his car was broken into, his car battery removed and his wallet stolen .
The Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police has resolved to charged defendant Browne pending court trial.
