BUCHANAN, Jan 8 (LINA) - Police report says the Buchanan Detachment of the Liberia National Police recorded 44 motor accidents resulting to six deaths and 23 major injuries in 2013 in Grand Bassa County.

According to the Liberia National Police Annual Report for 2013, the number of accident cases in Grand Bassa account for 22.38 percent of all accident cases across the country in 2013 or 15.6 percent of accident deaths and 48 percent of accident injuries across the country.

The report quoted by the Liberia News Agency Wednesday noted that the 25 vehicles damaged in the accidents represent 44.8 percent of all vehicles damaged as a result of accidents across the country.

The high rate of accident cases in 2013 in Grand Bassa County can be attributed to the pavement of the 88-mile road from Monrovia to the provisional capital of Buchanan in Grand Bassa County.

In the legal sector of the county, the LNP report said the Circuit Court received and adjudicated 21 cases, 13 of which were disposed, while nine cases are still pending, the report.
