MONROVIA, September 22 (LINA) - The Liberia National Police has arrested and charged 18-year-old Sualiho Sheriff with allegedly raping a six-year old girl in the Mamba Point Community.

The Liberia News Agency quotes a police charge sheet as saying that defendant Sheriff was taken to the police Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) and acquainted with his rights and duly charged with the crime of rape.
The charge sheet further revealed that the victim’s mother, Madam Esther Blake, filed a complaint on Thursday, September 4, stating that while defendant Sheriff and the victim were left alone, he lured the girl into his sister’s bedroom and allegedly sexually abused her.
Defendant Sheriff was arrested the same day by the police.
Meanwhile, during preliminary investigation by the police, defendant Sheriff denied the allegation and told investigators that he has not had any contact with the victim as contained in the complaint.
However, he explained that he usually plays with the victim’s three year-old sister and not herself and therefore, had no close link with her to commit the crime.
