MONROVIA, Feb 11 (LINA)-The Chairman of the Governance Commission Dr. Amos C. Sawyer, has called for renewed spirit in the Armed Forces of Liberia.
He said to restore public confidence in the army; members of the AFL must exhibit virtues that exemplify good statesmanship.
Dr. Sawyer reminded the new army about the great challenge it has to protect and defend Liberians and Liberia.
Dr. Sawyer made the remarks Tuesday at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) when he served as keynote speaker at programs marking the observance of the 57th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
Dr Sawyer, a former Interim President of Liberia, lauded President Sirleaf for appointing a Liberian as Chief-of- Staff of the AFL.
He underscored the need for Liberians to remain grateful to the out-going Commanding Officer-in -Charge of the AFL, Major-General Suraj Alaa-Abdurrahnan.
During the program, Dr. Sawyer was honored and decorated with the Distinguished Service Order by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for his dedicated services to the Republic of Liberia over the years.
