HARPER, October 6 (LINA) -Two brothers, George and Abraham Russell, residents of Gedetabo District in Maryland County, have been arrested by police for killing an alligator without the authorization of district authorities.

Maryland County Police Commander David Walker said it is forbidden for anyone to kill an alligator without the consent of authorities.
The authorization is required to protect the people against the misuse or sale of the alligator’s poisonous gall.
Commander Walker told the Liberia News Agency over the weekend that the two men have been charged by police with possession of a dangerous substance (the alligator’s gall) and have been forwarded to court.
According to the LINA Correspondent, the two men are the first to be arrested in recent times in the district for such crime.
