GBARNGA, Feb 15, (LINA) – The Coordinator for the Prison Fellowship of Liberia, Mr. P. Gibson Tuakolon, has lauded the cordial working relationship between his organization and authorities of the justice system in the county.

He said due to the good working relationship between the two institutions, his organization is successfully implementing its planned agenda which include visiting prisoners who are held for various offenses, as well as resettling some of them over the years.

Mr. Tuakolon told the Liberia News Agency Saturday morning in Gbarnga that in 2013, his organization resettled 31 freed prisoners to their respective communities and provided them material and financial assistance.

The Bong County Prison Fellowship Coordinator is meanwhile calling on its funding partner; the Foundation for Open Society Institute, to initiate a training program that he said, will build the capacity of prisoners while they serve their sentences.

Mr. Tuakolon is at the same time emphasizing the need for a reduction in the number of pre-trial detainees as a means of reducing the financial burden placed on national government to cater to prisoners across the country.
