FOYA, Feb 22 (LINA) - The Chief Administrator of the Foyah Borma Hospital in Foyah Town , Foya Statutory District, Lofa County has thanked President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for
fulfilling her promises to the hospital. Making the commendation when President Sirleaf made a brief stop at the hospital during her recent three-day official visit to Lofa County, Mr.
Francis T. Fondia named the transformation of the health center into a full-fledged hospital as well as the donation of a 50KVA generator, as major promises that have been fulfilled by the President.
Mr. Fondia said the hospital currently has two Danish medical students and an Ethiopian who have been providing medical services to the people of Foya and the rest of Lofa County for the past three months. He used the occasion to appeal to President Sirleaf to assist the hospital with a 60-seater bus that will transport workers to and from work, as they are seriously challenged by dust as they walk to work.
Fondia also called on the Liberian leader to negotiate with the Japanese and Chinese Governments to erect a pediatrics ward on the compound of the hospital to cater for children with serious complications.
In response, President Sirleaf thanked the staff of the hospital for carrying out their duties with diligence, and called on them to continue the good job as government is doing all it can to provide better incentives for health workers across the country.
In a related development, President Sirleaf has donated a 60KVA generator, LD$10,000 and five bags of rice to the Kolahun Hospital during her visit to the county. She said she was pleased to see all of the workers at work amidst calls by the Association of Health Workers for a stay home protest. President Sirleaf thanked them and said she's going to suggest to Health Minister Walter Gwenigale to be specific in allotting subsidies to health centers across the country, considering best quality, number of patients treated monthly as well as their distance away from Monrovia.
The Liberia News Agency gathered that the Kolahun Hospital, amidst some challenges last year, performed over 60 emergency surgeries on women with complications, with no death recorded.
