Official Outlines Development Projects Earmarked For 2014

TUBMANBURG, Feb 23 (LINA) - The Acting Superintendent of Suehn Mecca Statutory District, Rev. Joseph Dongbo, has disclosed that several development projects are currently being undertaken in the district.

Superintendent Dongbo cited the construction of a town hall on the compound of the Superintendent in Mecca Chiefdom as one of the projects.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency during the week, in Jenneh #3, Dewein District, Bomi County during a County Sitting Meeting, Superintendent Dongbo also named the construction of three bridges connecting various towns and villages in the district.

He named the bridges between Sonodee and Gebena Towns, Weadolo Town to Mannah Village and Gebena to Zuih Towns as the major ones being rehabilitated.

Acting Superintendent Dongbo said the bridges are connecting major towns from Gonga Town to Gbekala which are heavily populated, and that the construction of the bridges will facilitate free movement in the area.

He said funding for the projects came from the County and the Social Developments Funds. The County Development Fund is the allotment Government provides each county for development, while the Social Development Fund is funding provided by concessions operating in the county, as their social contributions to residents in their operational areas.
Acting Superintendent Dongbo told the Liberia News Agency that the county administration has already disbursed 200,000USD for the projects.

He said 100,000USD has been given to the Upper Mecca Clan, while the balance 100,000USD has been given to the Lower Mecca Clan to execute the development projects.

Acting Superintendent Dongbo further disclosed that the administration of the district has earmarked the improvement of the agriculture sector in the district.

He said communal farming in the clan has already been reactivated to enhance food production.

Acting Superintendent Dongbo is, meanwhile, appealing to the county administration to increase development funds provided the districts to enable them complete projects on time.
