MONROVIA, Feb 24 (LINA) -Authorities of the St. Clément’s University College in the Monrovia suburb of Paynesville have announced the dismissal of Professor Dr. Niden Peters as vice president of the school. A consultant at the College, Dr. Thomas G. Koon, made the disclosure at a press conference held at the school in Paynesville at the weekend.

Dr. Peters, a Cameroonian, was appointed vice president by the college’s overseas president and Board of Trustees but the National Commission on Higher Education had questioned his credentials.

Recently, the Commission ordered the closure of the college demanding that the institution terminates the services of Dr. Peters.

The Commission accused Dr. Peters of misleading the Liberian public that he holds a Ph.D. degree, copy of which he has allegedly failed to submit to the Commission despite several requests.

Dr. Koon disclosed that the school has reopened and that student enrollment was in progress

The National Commission on Higher Education is the government arm responsible to monitor and regulate the establishment of tertiary education institutions as well as verify the credentials of individuals heading those institutions.

In a related development, the College has announced that out of the 96 students who recently sat its entrance and placement exams for 2014, 76 students passed both math and English, while 12 students are to do remedial in English and 8 students are required to do remedial in math.
