ROBERTSPORT, Feb 26 (LINA) - A Paramount Chief in Gola Konneh Statutory District, Grand Cape Mount County, William Boakai, says the lack of safe-drinking water and latrines is posing health risks to rural dwellers.

He said due to the lack of pipe-borne water, the people suffer running stomach and diarrhea, causing setbacks in their daily activities.

Paramount Chief Boakai made the statement Tuesday in Gola Konneh Statutory District in an interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Grand Cape Mount County correspondent.

He said it was regrettable to note that in this modern age citizens of the district are still using the bushes to defecate.

The paramount chief is meanwhile appealing to Government, local and international NGOS to assist them with hand pumps and latrines to save citizens from diseases.

He said failure of Government and partners to assist them with hand pumps and latrines could result in an outbreak of diseases in the area.
