Youths in Gbarnga, Bong County are calling on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to resuscitate the Liberia Youth Empowerment Project (LYEP).

The youths, led by the head of the Bong County branch of the Christian Association of the Blind, Jacob Joe, said the project, which got stalled in November last year, provided

empowerment opportunities to the youths.

Joe made the call in an interview with the Liberia News Agency after presenting a petition to Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy through her Administrative Assistant Joseph Urey.

He said in addition to empowerment, the project also helped to keep Gbarnga free of bushes and clean of garbage.

“This Project is the President’s project and we do not want her to allow it to die,” noted Joe.

Responding, Urey promised to convey the petition to the Superintendent for onward transmission to President Sirleaf for consideration.
