Police have charged a 32-year-old man with murder in connection with the death of a girl, 11, in Gbarnga City, Bong County.

The victim went missing on January 15 and was discovered dead on January 17 with several body parts missing.

Alvin Morris alias Old Man was charged after days of police investigation, but Morris has since denied the allegation.

Commander Alvin James of the Police Crime Services Division told the Liberia News Agency that although suspect Morris has denied involvement in the killing of the child, testimonies from witnesses linked him to the commission of the crime.

According to Inspector James, one of the witnesses told police investigators that suspect Morris kept the child in a video club for more than eight hours while another said the accused was the last to interact with the girl before she went missing.

He has been sent to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, several organizations and institutions in the county, including the Bong County Christian Association, as well as the Chairman of the Legislative Caucus, Senator Henry Yallah, have condemned the killing.
