MONROVIA, January 25 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf  is expected to deliver her annual ‘State of the Nation’ address before a Joint Session of the National Legislature at the Capitol Building in Monrovia on Monday, January 26.

  
Article 58 of the Liberian Constitution calls for the President to address the nation in the Joint Chambers of the National Legislature on the Fourth Working Monday in January of each year and elaborate on the Legislative program of the administration.
 
The address is to also cover the state of affairs of the economy for the past 12 months as well as the current economic condition report covering expenditure as well as income of the government.
 
It is expected that one of the key issues to dominate the President’s address will be an update on the current state of the Ebola crisis which has plagued the nation for the past 10 months.
 
The event is expected to be attended by members of the upper and lower Houses of the Legislature, the cabinet, diplomatic corps, political parties, civil society organizations and eminent citizens.
 
President Sirleaf delivered her first State of the Nation address on January 23, 2006 after her inauguration on January 16 of the same year.
 
She described the address as “a general retrospective review of the activities of the final year of the National Transitional Government” since she had been in office for only a week.
