MONROVIA, January 28(LINA) – An official of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has welcomed the proposal to allocate financial resources from the County Development Fund to increase access to water supply in the country.

LWSC Deputy Managing Director for Technical Affairs Franklin Cassell said this pronouncement by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will go a long way in transforming access to water nationwide.

Pres. Sirleaf, in her annual message to the Fourth Session of the 53rd National Legislature on Monday, said that it was unacceptable that a large percentage of the Liberian population does not have access to clean pipe-borne water.

Addressing the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press briefing Wednesday, Cassell said LWSC stands prepared to provide technical assistance and will work with the various counties in developing water systems in those areas.

He, however, used the occasion to thank LWSC international partners for their various interventions in the ongoing water and sanitation system improvement in the country
