MONROVIA, February 1 (LINA) - Deputy Education Minister for Administration, Ramses Kumbuyah, has warned against the sale of text books and other instructional materials as the act is punishable under the law.
Kumbuyah said that the Ministry of Education (MOE) will rigidly enforce the “not for sale” policy to ensure that instructional materials are properly distributed and used by students.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference at the ministry Friday, Kumbuyah said those in the business of selling books should also be on the alert not to purchase MOE “Not For Sale” materials.
Minister Kumbuyah statement was triggered by an earlier disclosure by the Deputy Education Minister for Instruction, Hawah Goll-Kotchi, that over one million text books intended to enhance public schools instructions are expected in the country soon.
Meanwhile, the MOE has announced that payment of fees for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) test for both public and private schools is due in May.
According to the MOE, this measure is intended to afford parents ample time to gather financial resources before the payment date.
