MONROVIA, February 12 (LINA) - The Liberian Senate will hold its President Pro-Tempore election on Thursday, February 12, pursuant to the body’s standing Rule 19.

Rule 19 calls for elections within 30 working days after the announcement of said vacancy by the Secretary of Senate, in the case where the President Pro-Tempore is removed or expelled.

Making the disclosure Thursday, Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singhbe said three senators have qualified to contest the pending election.

They are Senators Armah Jallah of Gbarpolu, Oscar Cooper of Margibi and Joseph Nagbe of Sinoe counties.

The election is a result of the December 20, 2014 Special Senatorial elections that saw the defeat of former Senate Pro-Tempore Gbehzongar Findley.
