MONROVIA, February 6 (LINA) - Work on Phase One of the Somalia Drive road project in Gardnersville, outside Monrovia, is expected to resume in mid-February, Public Works Minister William Gyude Moore has said.
According to the Public Works Minister, the project, funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is one of several donor projects halted in the height of the Ebola crisis last year.
According to the Liberia News Agency, the Public Works Minister made the disclosure at the just-ended Cabinet Retreat held in Julijuah, Bomi County where he presented the ministry’s Roads Infrastructure Interventions and Post-Ebola Execution Plan.
Moore said the Redlight-Gbarnga Asphalt Road rehabilitation funded by the World Bank and implemented by the China International Construction Company (CICO) has resumed, with the contractor currently on the site.
Moore also revealed that another Chinese construction company, CHICO, has resumed the rehabilitation of the Gbarnga-Ganta to Guinea border asphalt road in Bong and Nimba counties under the World Bank-funded project.
He said the Neighborhood Road Rehabilitation under the Community Infrastructure Development Project in Montserrado County, being implemented by the Ministry and funded by Japan, has resumed and works are ongoing.
