BUCHANAN, February 6 (LINA) - ActionAid Liberia has launched a Baseline Survey to strengthen civil society capacity to advocate and ensure access to justice for women and girls in Rivercess and Grand Bassa counties.

The survey launch took place at the offices of the Bassa Women Development Association (BAWODA) in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County on Thursday.

Speaking at the program, Internal Affairs Ministry Director for Customs and Culture and chief launcher, William Jallah, said the ministry will fully support the project because women have been marginalized for too long now.

“If you educate a girl child, it’s like fetching minerals from a diamond or gold creek because they are so valuable,” Jallah noted.

He admonished Liberians to shun female genital mutilation (FGM), a practice, he claimed, is negative and must be discouraged.

He reminded participants that the Internal Affairs Ministry has issued General Circular #13 suspending Sande society activities across the country.
