Justice Minister Benedict Sannoh has called on authorities of the Public Works Ministry to give preference to the Engineering Battalion of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) in awarding construction contracts.

Sannoh made the observation when he served as keynote speaker at a symposium as part of the 58th Armed Forces Day observance at the Monrovia City HallMonday.

Speaking on the theme: “Military Support To Civil Authorities, The Way Forward,” Sannoh pointed out that the engineering battalion has over the years carried out road rehabilitation and other construction works in the country without contracts.

He stressed that given their past record, there is now the dire need that the Public Works have the AFL Engineering Battalion under consideration for contracts such as building and maintaining dilapidated roads.

“This is necessary in Liberia’s reconstruction and rehabilitation drive because it will also help to put them in a better position to help the government provide basic services which are crucial to Liberia’s recovery and economic development,” the Justice Minister added.
