MONROVIA, February 12 (LINA) - The Ministry of Education has for the fourth time revised the schedule for the opening of schools in 2015, setting the latest date at February 16.

From the onset, the ministry announced that schools would opened on February 2, but later changed it to February 16, then to March 2 early this week and has now reverted to the February 16 date.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information daily press briefing at the ministry Thursday, Deputy Education Minister for Administration Ramses Kumbuyah said the ministry has determined February 16 as the final date for the opening of schools.

“However, we acknowledge the fact that the country is confused about the dates, but we wish to apologize for the changing of the date,” he added.

Kumbuyah said Montserrado County and other urban centers are fully ready for the opening of schools, adding that they will not waste time to open schools because of those that are unprepared.

He indicated that a group called the ‘School Safety Committee” has been organized to help monitor students activities on campuses.

The deputy minister has, meanwhile, said it is mandatory that every parent, guardian and school administrator adheres to the school safety protocols by washing their hands and taking their temperature before entering any campus.
