MONROVIA, February 12 (LINA) –There will be no graduation exercises for 12th graders prior to the release of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results, Deputy Education Minister for Instruction, Hawah Goll-Kotchi, has said.
She said the ministry’s decision is to ensure that those graduating from high school must have passed the WAEC exams before giving them clearance to graduate.
Making the statement on Thursday at the Ministry of Information daily press briefing, Goll-Kotchi said the government is working with WAEC to facilitate the speedy processing of the exams results before graduation.
She noted that no school should collect WAEC fees from any parent or guardian during registration except in May or June, which is the final month for payment of those fees.
Meanwhile, she has disclosed that any 9th grader failing the WAEC exams will not be promoted to the 10th grade.
