-The Liberia National Police has arrested and sent to court four persons on charges of criminal mischief, arson, riot, disorderly conduct and criminal facilitation.

Defendants Alfred Gedeh, Emmanuel Pappoe, Emmanuel Wee and Fomba Fofana were on February 11 arrested by police for allegedly setting ablaze four houses in the Swamp Block Community in Battery Factory, resulting to the death of one person and injury to several others.

The arrest of the suspects was based upon a complaint filed by Madam Roseline Toe, a resident of the community.

According to the Police charge sheet, Madam Toe claimed that during the attack she lost several valuables, including her houses that got burned valued at US$30,000.

The Police charge sheet indicated that a court had ordered the eviction of some community residents who had illegally settled on Madam Toe’s land.

During the eviction process, four persons heavily armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons as well as petrol bomb and a gallon of gasoline, set ablaze four of Madam Toe’s houses and vandalized the one in which she currently resides.

The charge sheet said during investigation, the defendants admitted to the allegations levied against them by Madam Toe.
