MONROVIA,  February 19 (LINA) - The Head of the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER), Ismail Ould Cheikh, has reminded Liberians that the fight against Ebola is not only about achieving zero case, but staying at zero case.

 
He pointed out that reaching to and maintaining the zero case requires vigorous coordination and diligence on the part of the government, community leaders and the citizenry in general.
 
The UNMEER official made the comment Thursday at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press briefing held at the ministry in Monrovia.
 
“The continuous effort of government in building sustainable systems which include health service delivery, training of health workers to practice infection control and prevention, is required in maintaining the country at zero case,” Cheikh noted.
 
He also stressed the need for community leaders to sensitize people against acts of complacency as well as to uphold health protocols which have helped in lowering the rate of infection to guarantee success against the Ebola virus.   
 
Cheikh then praised the government and the people of Liberia for the effort made in reducing the infection rate in the country.
 
“Liberia is very close to getting to zero. This is a testament to the commitment of the government and the people of Liberia,” he noted.
