KAKATA, February 23 (LINA) - Save the Children International has constructed an All-Girls School in Kakata, Margibi County.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency Sunday, Save the Children Education Project Manager Augustine Kullie said the school is intended exclusively for teen-age mothers and girls to increase their access to quality education.

Kullie said the school was constructed under the program called “Hope for Africa” with funding from Save the Children International South Korea.

He disclosed that the school is located on the main campus of the Kakata Rural Teachers Training Institute and was constructed at a cost of over US$120,000 in accordance with the Ministry of Education prescribed design for schools in Liberia.

According to him, the building comprises a primary school building and an early childhood development block, mainly targeting teen-age mothers, adding: “We will hire care-givers while they (mothers) are in school and after classes, they can take their kids home.”

He said the official dedication of the school will be in the first week of March.

Kullie disclosed that four similar primary school buildings were constructed in Montserrado and Bong counties.
