MONROVIA February 24 (LINA) - The Government of Liberia through the Grand Jury of Montserrado County has issued an indictment of  economic sabotage, bribery and criminal conspiracy against several past officials of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) and the 52nd Legislature.

Acting Information Minister Isaac Jackson said the unsealed indictment found more probable, Clemenceau Urey Sr., former Chairman, NOCAL Board of Directors, Cllr. Stephen B. Dumbar Jr., Peter B. Jallah Jr., Evelyn Kandakai and Albert T. Chie, all former members of NOCAL’s Board.
Making the disclosure at the Ministry of Information daily press conference in Monrovia on Tuesday, Jackson named NOCAL’s former CEO Dr. Fodee Kromah, Fulton Reeves, Comptroller, and Timothy G. Wiapiah, former Senior Accountant at NOCAL, as some of those indicted.
Jackson further named Alomiza Ennos Barr, former member of the 52nd legislature and J. Nanborlor Singbe Sr., Secretary of the Liberian Senate, as part of the indicted party.
Jackson quotes the indictment as saying that between the periods of May 2006 to May 2007, Urey and the other indictees knowingly and willfully colluded to defraud government of US$120,400.
Jackson quoted the indictment as saying that the indictees engaged themselves into solicitation, payment and receipt of money for the alleged purpose of ratification by the 52nd Legislature of oil contracts entered into by NOCAL and several oil companies.
“This indictment is in keeping with government’s desire to ensure that whenever the cloud of corruption is hovering over public officials whether past or present the law will be allowed to take its course,” Jackson stressed.
