MONROVIA, February 24 (LINA) - An official of the Incident Management System (IMS) has said the capacity of the National Public Health Reference Laboratory and clinics must be strengthened to maintain efficiency during the post-Ebola period.
IMS Laboratory Coordinator Henry Kohar also highlighted the need to improve the technical capacity of laboratory technicians, implementation and strengthening of national coordination and upgrading the national specimen referral system.
Speaking Tuesday at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference, Kohar said the human resource development of local lab technicians to perform Ebola testing as well as training at county level for specimen collection and transportation are essential to the transition program.
Kohar, who is also National Laboratory Coordinator at the Ministry of Health, disclosed that an assessment will be conducted by the ministry and partners to determine the needs and gaps to achieve the national transition plan.
