MONROVIA, February 25 (LINA) - An 89-year-old man has been arrested and jailed at the Monrovia Central Prison for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.

Police arrested Victor Tah, a resident of the Sinkor Old Road, on February 21 following a complaint by the girl’s parents, according to a police charge sheet.

The charge sheet indicated that Tah, who lives in the same house with the victim’s parents, allegedly raped the little girl while her parents were away.

The police charge sheet also showed that the medical report from the Hope of Women Clinic in Monrovia, where the girl was later taken for treatment by her parents, showed that she was sexually abused allegedly by Tah.

However, during police investigation, Tah denied the allegation, saying: “I did not rape this child. I am a very old man,” according to the charge sheet.

Meanwhile, Tah has been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial
