MONROVIA, February 28 (LINA) – Top American media are harping on news from the visit of Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to that country and the ‘extraordinary strides’ made to curb the Ebola epidemic in the West African nation.

 
Pres. Sirleaf is on a three-day official visit to the U.S. dubbed “A Thank You” mission to show appreciation to the American government and people for their support and partnership with Liberia in wiping out the deadly virus by nearly 95 percent.
 
The Liberian leader met with her American counterpart Barack Obama, Secretaries of State and Defense, John Kerry and Ash Carter, Congressional leaders and members and addressed an event on Capitol Hill organized by Congressman Chris Coons and the U.S. Institute for Peace during the visit.
 
The Bloomberg headline is “Obama Tells Liberia’s Johnson Sirleaf Ebola Aid Will Continue,” while the Voice of America headline screams: ‘Extraordinary Strides’ Fighting Ebola In Liberia.
 
The New York Times story says “Liberia’s President Urges U.S. To Continue Ebola Aid, and the USA Today writes: “Obama Praises Ebola Progress, But ‘Job Not Yet Done’.”
 
The DoD News carried: Liberia’s President Thanks Obama, Carter For Ebola Aid and the Department of State website published a transcript of the Press Availability of President Sirleaf and Secretary Kerry.
 
Television and radio stations as well as Social Media were also inundated with the visit of the Liberian Chief Executive and Africa’s first elected female president.
 
Members of the President’s official delegation on the ‘Thank You’ visit are Finance and Development Planning Minister Amara Konneh, Information Minister Lewis Brown and the Liberian Ambassador to the U.S. and Canada, Jeremiah Sulonteh.
