MONROVIA, March 3 (LINA) – Government through the Health Ministry’s Department of Rehabilitation, has donated assorted supplies to the Liberians United Against Drug Abuse (LUADA), a local non-governmental organization.



Making the disclosure in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Logan Town Bushrod Island Monday, LUADA Executive Director Mr. Samuel G. Gibson said since the donation was the first from a sitting government since its establishment 23 years ago.

Gibson named the items donated as several bags of rice, cartoons of vegetable oil, laundry and bath soaps, Clorox, beans, Corn Soya Blend and salt, among others.
He said the items were distributed to over 250 marginalize parents and children living in ghettos on Bushrod Island by LUADA in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Rehabilitation Department head, Esther Grant.

The LUADA official commended the Ministry of Health, General Services Agency, World Food Program and Colombo Plan for partnership with his institution over the years.
 
Meanwhile, Gibson has called on the government to prioritize the welfare of the youths to secure their future from prostitution, criminal activities as well as illegal sale and use of dangerous substances.
