MONROVIA, March 4 (LINA) - The University of Liberia Vice President for Media Relations, Mr. Norris Tweah, has appealed to the National Legislature to increased budgetary appropriation in the 2015/2016 fiscal budget to build its human capacity and integrity.
Mr. Tweah, who did not say how much was needed, pointed out that the current US$12.9 million budgetary allocation is not adequate to cover the over 26,000 students and faculty members the institution has to cater for during this post-Ebola era.
Speaking on the Truth FM (96.1) Breakfast Show Wednesday, he indicated that the additional funding would be used to fund medical students and other emergency demands imposed on the university as a result of increased enrollment and other factors.
Mr. Tweah disclosed that the institution is still consulting with stakeholders for the resumption of classes for junior and senior students in mid-March.
Meanwhile, Tweah has disclosed that the UL is receiving applications to fill the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs made vacant by the resignation of Professor Wilson Tarpeh.
