MONROVIA, March 4 (LINA) –No cases were postponed at the Temple of Justice due to the outbreak of the Ebola disease, the Director of Public Information at the Temple of Justice, Singbe Johnson, has said.

Johnson told the Liberia News Agency in a brief interview Wednesday that the Supreme Court and all subordinate courts across the country heard cases assigned for the various terms of court, despite the health crisis.

He noted that the highest court also heard petitions and adjudicated them in keeping with the law.

“The Temple of Justice, however, instituted several measures, including the reduction of staff, number of jurors and temperature taking, coupled with ensuring hand washing at courts across the country,” he added.

Singbe pointed out that as a way of avoiding overcrowding in prisons around the country, convicts and perpetrators of minor crimes were granted pardon or placed on parole.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Liberia will open on Monday for the March Term of Court.
