MONROVIA, March 5 (LINA) –The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) has warned media houses to stop using government-related publications and advertisements that are not sanctioned by the ministry.
According to acting Information Minister Isaac Jackson, despite the approval by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of MICAT as the official regulator of government publications, some entities are by-passing the ministry and directly taking press releases, other publications and advertisements to the media.
“We call on you to stop or you will not hold the ministry responsible for works that did not originate from it,” Jackson said at the Thursday edition of the regular MICAT press briefing.
He stressed that government will not honor payment of quotations from media institutions that did not pass through the ministry’s bureau of communication.
