MONROVIA, March 6 (LINA) - Grand Bassa County Representative Gabriel Smith has submitted a bill titled: “The Bill to establish the Liberia Institute of Road Engineering, Construction and Maintenance” to Plenary for passage into law.

Smith, in a letter to Speaker J. Alexander Tyler, dated March 3and read in Session Thursday, said when established, the institute will train senior, middle-level and low-level road engineers as well as road construction workers, the Liberia News Agency reports.

He attributed the current deplorable road condition in Liberia to the absence of institutions to provide training opportunity for road workers as was the case prior to the civil war.
Following its reading, Plenary forwarded the communication to the House Committees on Education, Public Works and Ways, Means and Finance as well as Good Governance for scrutiny to report in two weeks.
